President, Augusta Medical Systems
Michael Chivington Osbon is the President of Augusta Medical Systems, a role he has held since 2005. He has spent most of his life in manufacturing and men’s sexual health, an industry his family helped create.
His grandfather, Geddings D. Osbon (1901–1986), invented the modern vacuum erection device and in 1982 received the original FDA marketing clearance for what became the first commercially available erectile dysfunction pump. His father, Julian W. Osbon, formed and led the company that brought vacuum therapy to the world and into mainstream urology, educating physicians and major medical institutions. Michael’s first job in the family business came as a boy in 1978, assembling tension rings for a penny a piece, the same year the International Society of Sexual Medicine was founded.
Augusta Medical Systems was founded by Julian W. Osbon in the early 2000s to continue the family’s work in vacuum therapy. Michael became President in 2005 and purchased the company from his father in 2006. Today he leads an FDA-registered Class II medical device manufacturer based at 1027 Broad Street in Augusta, Georgia, ACHC-accredited and CE-marked for international distribution, carrying a family legacy in vacuum therapy that now spans three generations.
